Privacy
Sorting Geography is a game about countries. It is not interested in you.
Draft — not yet final. The app has not been released. This page will be finalised against the shipping build before submission, and it must describe the app exactly, because an app-store privacy declaration that does not match the binary is a rejection.
No account, no sign-in
There is no account to create and no way to sign in. The game does not ask for your name, your email address or your phone number, because it has no use for any of them.
The one thing this website asks for, if you offer it
This website has a box where you can leave an email address to be told when the game ships. It is the only thing either the game or the site ever asks you for, and it is entirely optional — the game itself never asks, as above.
If you leave an address: we store the address, the date you left it and which page you
left it on, and nothing else. You get a note straight away confirming it, then a
message when the game ships and when new ways to sort are added. Nothing else, and we
never sell or share it. The mail is sent through Resend,
which handles delivery on our behalf and therefore also sees the address. Every message
carries an unsubscribe link, and using it deletes the address rather
than marking it inactive. You can also unsubscribe at any time without waiting for a
message, by visiting /api/unsubscribe?email= followed by your address.
Your progress stays on your device
Puzzles you have played, countries you have unlocked, your streak and your scores are stored on your phone. If your device backs itself up through iCloud or Google, that backup is between you and Apple or Google — it does not pass through us, and there is no server of ours holding it.
The game works offline
All the country data ships inside the app. Playing a puzzle sends nothing anywhere and needs no connection.
Anonymous usage statistics
To understand which questions are too hard or where people give up, the app records anonymous events — that a puzzle was finished, on which measure, at which difficulty. These carry no name, no email, no advertising identifier and no location, and cannot be tied back to a person. They will be listed precisely here before release.
Advertising
The daily puzzle never carries an advertisement. Elsewhere the free version may show them, and a paid unlock removes them entirely. Any advertising SDK used will be named on this page, along with what it can see, before the app ships.
Children
The game is suitable for children and is built accordingly: no chat, no user-generated content, no social features, and nothing that asks a child for personal information.
Contact
Questions about any of this are welcome, and the contact address will be published here before release.
